Take-home pay calculator

Type your gross salary and see what lands in your account: PAYE, UIF and your take-home pay, on the 2026/27 SARS tables. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Taxly keeps your tax paperwork in order all year

The calculator is one small part of Taxly. Taxly is a filing assistant for South African freelancers, small businesses and salaried people with deductions:

  • Capture — snap a slip, upload a PDF, or forward the invoice by email.
  • Read & check — AI reads the merchant, date, total and VAT; you confirm it.
  • Store — the original is kept as your SARS audit trail.
  • Build — deductions and a running tax estimate update as you go.
  • File — export a pack with the ITR12 codes mapped, for eFiling or your accountant.

How take-home pay is worked out

  1. Your salary is turned into an annual figure (12 months, 26 fortnights or 52 weeks).
  2. Pension, provident and RA contributions come off first — up to 27.5% of your pay, capped at R430 000 a year for 2026/27.
  3. Income tax comes from the SARS brackets, less the age rebate (R17 820 for under-65s in 2026/27). If you pay a medical aid, the monthly medical scheme fees credit reduces it further.
  4. UIF is 1% of your salary, capped at R177.12 a month.
  5. Take-home pay is what's left after PAYE, UIF and your own retirement contributions.

An estimate for a steady salary, before medical aid premiums, bonuses, fringe benefits and other payslip deductions — your payslip can differ.
